ARA Healthcare, formed with a vision and dream of Dr. Rama Mukherjee a leading applied research scientist of India. She has over thirty years of research experience in the fields of Neurobiology, Neuroimmunology, Mycobacterial Immunology, Cancer Biology and Generic & New Product Development.

The company name "ARA" has three meanings; (a) In Latin meaning "altar" representing a southern constellation situated between the constellations Scorpius and Triangulum Australe. It is one of the original 48 constellations of Ptolemy, (b) in English meaning decoration and (c) in Hindi meaning "aradhana" for dedication and devotion. The three meanings signify the company's desire and aspiration to serve as a cluster of independent research laboratories integrated into one forming a center for excellence in R&D.

The company wants to be a leader in the field of healthcare drug development where the company will be developing novel biological entities including humanized monoclonal antibodies and also in the area of healthcare services including molecular diagnostics, biomaterial banks, bio databases and preclinical and phase I clinical drug development.

The company also offers integrated drug discovery solutions to customers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology area to address significant medical needs and conditions.
